The BiliPic System
BiliPic is a smartphone based point of care plasma bilirubin assay and information sharing system developed by Bilimetrix USA to estimate the plasma total bilirubin concentration and share laboratory and clinical information.
How it works
A small drop of blood is added to a cell/plasma separator on a test strip, and plasma diffuses onto a nitrocellulose strip in about 30 seconds.
A photograph is taken using the BiliPic app and the intensity of yellow on the test strip is compared with a standard reference card.
The plasma bilirubin value is displayed almost immediately on the cell phone and simultaneously transmitted to a secure cloud platform where it can be accessed by referral hospitals and for population research. The user can manually enter basic clinical data and receive advice on interpreting results. Direct phone connection to the network treatment center is provided.
